The stomach is located in the upper left quadrant of the abdomen.

The stomach is between the esophagus and the duodenum.

 

The stomach has five main anatomic areas.

  1. The cardia is the area where the esophagus enters the stomach.

  2. The fundus is the rounded area above the cardiac area.

  3. The body of the stomach is below the cardiac region.

  4. The gastric antrum is the distal part of the stomach.

  5. The pyloric sphincter guards the exit of the stomach into the small intestine.
